Ptown Bikes opened its doors on April 1, 1995 with 55 rental bikes, and has been growing ever since — today we have over 650. Our fleet of Trek and Specialized bikes, plus a growing lineup of Specialized e-bikes, is meticulously maintained and refreshed every year. Retired rental bikes get tuned up and sold as quality used bikes.
Owner Bill Meadows brings a background in education to how he runs the shop — his goal from day one was better service, better products, and a friendlier, more reliable experience than anywhere else in town.
In 2004, we built custom software to manage our growing customer base, now tens of thousands strong, so sign-up and check-out are fast no matter how you've done business with us before. We were the first shop in town with a website (1995), the first to offer online reservations, and the first to offer reservations during busy weeks.
We believe your vacation should be on your schedule — that's why we offer Pay As You Go rentals (no prepaying for a set block of time) and 24-hour bike returns.
After 31 years in Provincetown, we're expanding our footprint — not for bikes, but for the folks who keep us rolling. On-site housing for our seasonal team, built right here in Ptown, because people shouldn't have to choose between a job they love and a place to stay.
